This was the original Mexica design on what is called the Cuitlahuac flag.
Spanish historians recorded the original Cuitlahuac flag as the one flown in battle by Cuitlahuac and his troops the night they defeated Hernán Cortés and his men. It is said the original flag is stored in the Vatican in its secret basement vault. It featured the Eagle on the Cactus, with the Alt Tlachinolli War symbol in its mouth in front of the sun with a light blue background. The original flag did not have the word "Mexica Tribe" and was on a light blue background.
